How to Apply for Jobs Listed

  1. Complete the application.  All applicants must complete the Lexington County Application Form. Current employees of Lexington County Government can also apply online.  A resume may be attached; however, all sections of the application form must be completed.  All applications must be received by the posted deadline specified in the job listing for the position.

  2. View the current job openings.

  3. Apply by clicking AppLY at the bottom of the available position listing.

Methods of applying for a job:

·         Complete an online application (preferred method).

·         Apply in person at the Lexington County Human Resources Department (see address above).

·         Fax or mail your resume in to the Human Resources Department (see information above).

Help Completing the Online Application

·         First time applicants:

o        Click on Create an Account.  You must enter a unique Login Id and password that will identify you within the Online Application system. Your Login Id: may be any string with at least 6 letters or numbers, and will not be case sensitive. Your password: must be at least 6 characters but must include at least a letters and a number, and will also not be case sensitive.  Do not use special characters or dashes. You may enter a statement or question in the "password Reminder" field that will help you to remember your password in the case that you forget.

·        Returning Applicants:  You MUST use the same login id and password you used to create an account in order to login to the system to apply for additional positions in the future.

·         In all pages, the areas marked with * are required fields and data must be input in these fields.

·      We will periodically purge applications that have not been accessed within the last 18 months. Accessing means Signing On - either when applying online for Jobs or when updating your application data. If you have not applied for a job recently, sign on even if you do not change any information. This will keep your application from being purged. You must do this once within an 18 month period of time to keep your application from being purged.

·      This site stores only one application/resume per person. IF YOU AppLY FOR MORE THAN ONE pOSITION, THE SYSTEM SUbMITS THE SAME AppLICATION/RESUME FOR EACH pOSITION. YOU CANNOT CREATE MULTIpLE AppLICATIONS AND/OR RESUMES.

o       Equal Employment Information (Applicant Data Record):  This data is for periodic government reporting and will be kept in a confidential file separate from the application for employment.  All applicants are considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, veteran status, disability or any other legally protected status.

o      Selective Service: For male applicants only.   pursuant to Section 1-1-560 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina, a male person who is eighteen years of age or older and who is not in compliance with the federal Military Selective Service Act is not eligible for employment by or service with the State or a political subdivision of the State, including all boards and commissions, departments, agencies, institutions, and instrumentalities of the State.

o     Resume: A resume is not required however, if you would like to include one, it can be done in two ways:

§      preferred method: Attach the electronic copy of your resume by clicking on the browse button and select your file.  Next, press the submit button to include your resume in your application file.

§         Or, cut and paste, from an existing document, into the text area.  Existing documents formats that can be used are MS Word (.doc) and Adobe (.pdf).  Next, press submit to include your resume in your application file.

Once you have applied for a position a confirmation of your application submission will be displayed.

Testing

If the position for which you are applying is clerical and a certified typing score is a requirement, you must submit your typing test score from a test taken within six (6) months of your application. If this documentation of your typing skills is not included, your application will not be considered. You must mail a copy of your certified typing test score, to the County's HR Dept. (address above) by the closing date of the position to be considered for the position. As a service to Lexington County Government, the two sites below have agreed to offer a typing test, free of charge, to all applicants who require it:

Interview and Hiring process

Applications that are submitted for open positions will be reviewed and screened to ensure that applications meet the basic requirements for the position. After your application has been reviewed by our Employment Staff, you will be notified within four (4) weeks regarding the status of your application. Applicants who are qualified are referred to the hiring departments and considered for interviews. Applicants who are selected for an interview will be contacted. past employment history may be verified. Applicants are responsible for providing sufficient information to accomplish this.

An employment physical is required for all individuals selected for regular full-time, regular part-time or selected temporary positions. This appointment is scheduled after a job offer has been made and accepted. Failure to complete or pass the physical may result in withdrawal of a job offer.

 

New employees must present evidence of U.S. citizenship or legal residence in the U.S. in order to be eligible for employment.

 

All new employees assigned to regular full-time or regular part-time positions are required to enroll in the County’s direct deposit program.
