Description:
  Job Purpose: This position serves as the primary point of contact between the Economic Development Department and existing private sector business and industrial firms located in the Lexington County. This position implements programs and services that have a direct impact on the retention and expansion of existing employers in the County and ensures that existing employers are aware of programs and services available through educational partners and technical assistance providers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Oversees the Economic Development Department’s existing business and industry retention and expansion efforts
•Creates and maintains electronic and hard copy databases on existing employers in the County to include key executives, product/service offerings, employment levels, physical plant parameters, key suppliers, key end customers and other related data
•Conducts face-to-face interviews with key executive(s) of Lexington County’s major employers at least once every 12 months and the medium-sized firms once every 18-24 months. Coordinates with Economic Development Director and Manager, regional and state allies on these visits as appropriate. Compiles reports on the findings from each interview and produces periodic summary reports of all visits
•Plans and delivers formal seminars, information sharing events and other outreach programs aimed at the industrial audience in Lexington County
•Oversees the County’s annual business, industry and ally appreciation golf tournament
•Represents Lexington County in the planning and implementation for the annual B2B Supplier Event hosted by Lexington County Economic Development and Richland County Economic Development
•Assists in the planning and implementation of existing business and industry recognition/appreciation events
•Collects, maintains and disseminates data and information on the conduct of business in Lexington County and the State of South Carolina on a broad range of subject areas, included but not limited to economic development incentives, state and local tax policies, workforce availability, prevailing wages and fringe benefits, demographic and socio-economic data, commuting patterns, etc.

Minimum Requirements: A Bachelor’s Degree from and accredited college or university in the field of marketing, finance, business administration, geography, economics or a related discipline. Three (3) to five (5) years of direct experience in economic development at the local, state or regional level in the public, quasi-public or private sector. A combination of formal education and direct experience may be substituted for the above minimums.

  Job Description:
Oversees the implementation, permitting and enforcement of the short-term rental regulations. Supervises zoning staff specifically assigned to short-term rental enforcement. In the absence of the Zoning Administrator, serves as the lead zoning staff member. Is the lead zoning staff member relating to code enforcement and compliance. Assists with Board of Zoning Appeals requests, map and text amendments, and other administrative duties within the Zoning Division.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Supervises zoning staff specifically responsible for short-term rental compliance.
-Develops and implements short-term rental review, permitting, and inspections processes.
-Ensures the code enforcement of the Zoning Ordinances and serves as the lead zoning staff for enforcement matters.
-Prepares presentations for public hearings for zoning variances, special exceptions and zoning appeals to the Board of Zoning Appeals.
-Assists with presentations for zoning map amendments to be heard by County Council and the Planning Commission.
-Performs personnel evaluations; makes recommendations to improve job performance, issue merit increases, or disciplinary actions.
-Reviews short-term rental applications and materials and issues zoning permits.
