If it’s trash, put it in the trashcan.
If it’s recyclable, put it in the recycling bin.
Make sure outdoor trash cans have lids than can be securely fastened.
If you have curbside trash collection, don't overfill your cans or put loose trash in boxes.
If you have curbside recycling, be sure to place heavier recyclables on those that are lighter and can blow out of the bin.
Bust a litterbug
Take your trash and recyclables to a convenience center? Secure your load and tarp your truck. It’s not just a good idea; it’s the law.
Cigarette butts are litter, too. If you smoke, carry and use a portable or pocket ashtray.
Business managers, check dumpsters daily to see that top and side doors are closed. This prevents scavengers from spreading trash around the ground.
