Recycle for Sight and Sound


In one week, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department in partnership with the Cayce-West Columbia Lions Club will begin collecting new and used eyeglasses and hearing aids that will be donated to South Carolina Lions Charitable Services in order to support its mission of assisting children and young adults who experience problems with their abilities to hear and see.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said Three Fountains Resident Deputy Stacey Gadson is coordinating the participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the fourth annual Recycle for Sight and Sound effort to collect new and used eyeglasses and hearing aids. Gadson is a member of the Cayce-West Columbia Lions Club.

Metts said new and used eyeglasses and hearing aids can be donated between Monday, June 16 and Monday, June 30 at the following locations:

Lexington County Lexington County Law Enforcement Complex, 521 Gibson Road, Lexington

Cayce City Hall, 1800 12th Street, Cayce

West Columbia City Hall, 200 North 12th Street, West Columbia

Springdale Town Hall, 2915 Platt Springs Road, Springdale

Tri-City Leisure Center, 485 Brooks Avenue, West Columbia

North Region Service Center, 111 Lincreek Drive, Columbia

Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, 3050 Leaphart Road, West Columbia

Boy Scout Troop 425, Zion Lutheran Church, 226 Corley Mill Road, Lexington

Citizens who want additional information about the effort to collect new and used eyeglasses and hearing aids can contact Gadson on his voice mail at (803) 785-0801, Metts said. The Recycle for Sight and Sound effort reflects the Sheriff’s Department mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County.
