Support Our Troops

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department in partnership with Lexington County School District One, Lexington County School District Two and School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties is accepting donations of bottled water, sports drinks and single-serving snacks that the Sheriff’s Department will deliver to the USO for distribution to members of the United States armed forces while they are at Columbia Metropolitan Airport. Donations will be accepted through Friday, May 16 as part of the annual Support Our Troops drive for the USO.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said bottled water, sports drinks and single-serving snacks can be donated at any public school in School District One, School District Two and School District Five as well as the Lexington County North Region Service Center, 111 Lincreek Drive, Columbia. Deputies will collect the items that are donated and transport them to the USO at Columbia Metropolitan Airport on Thursday, May 29.

Sgt. Wesley Swinson is coordinating the participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the Support Our Troops drive to provide bottled water, sports drinks and single-serving snacks to the USO, Metts said. Citizens who have questions about the drive can contact Swinson on his cellular telephone at (803) 200-8424 or via email at wswinson@lcsd.sc.gov.

The participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the Support Our Troops drive reflects the agency’s mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
