PS-LE Career Expo

In two weeks, Lexington County Public Safety in partnership with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Lexington Police Department, Irmo Fire District and Batesburg-Leesville Fire Service will conduct a Public Safety and Law Enforcement Career Expo and Job Fair. The event will be conducted between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 19 at the Lexington County Recreation and Aging Commission Gymnasium, 432 Ball Park Road, Lexington.

The career expo is designed for persons who are seeking careers and volunteer opportunities as First Responders with public safety and law enforcement agencies in Lexington County. The available opportunities will include: Fire Fighter (Career & Volunteer), Emergency Medical Services (Paramedic & EMT), 911 Call Takers, Sheriff’s Deputies and Police Officer (Career & Reserve) and Correctional Officer. In addition, the Lexington County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will be present in order to accept volunteer applications. Additionally, Columbia College will be onsite in order to discuss degree opportunities in the field of Emergency Management.

David Kerr, Director of Public Safety for Lexington County, said, “This event is a great opportunity to talk to many of our county’s dedicated first responder heroes and to become part of a cohesive team that serves our communities 24/7, 365 days a year”

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts encourages citizens to attend the career expo.

“We always are looking for a few more good men and good women who want to join our team and work to provide professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County,” Metts said. “The career expo will provide citizens with an excellent opportunity to understand the benefits of a career in law enforcement or corrections.”

Lexington County would like to offer to media personalities the chance to participate in the firefighter physical agility test and other basic firefighter activities during the event. This will be a great opportunity for the news media to experience some of what firefighters across the country go through in the performance of their life-saving duties.

Citizens who have questions about the Career Expo or who would like additional information about the event can contact Lexington County Human Resources Recruiter Michael Robbins at (803) 785-8158 or via email at mrobbins@lex-co.com.
