Officers with the Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) on Wednesday, April 9 seized a methamphetamine laboratory that was being operated at a home on Irvin Jumper Street near Gaston. Officers arrested three men and one woman in connection with the operation of the methamphetamine laboratory.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Officers arrested Bostic on charges of trafficking in methamphetamine, manufacturing methamphetamine, improperly disposing of waste from a methamphetamine laboratory, unlawfully altering pseudoephedrine and two counts of possessing a controlled substance.

Officers arrested Padgett and Sheppard on charges of trafficking in methamphetamine, manufacturing methamphetamine, improperly disposing of waste from a methamphetamine laboratory, unlawfully altering pseudoephedrine and possessing a controlled substance, Metts said.

Bostic, Padgett, Quarles and Sheppard each were being held on Thursday, April 10 at the Lexington County Detention Center, Metts said.

Bostic and Padgett were being held Thursday at the Detention Center on bail totaling $185,000 for each inmate, Metts said. Sheppard was being held at the Detention Center on bail totaling $180,000. Quarles was being held at the Detention Center on bail totaling $175,000.

At about 9:44 p.m. on Wednesday, Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies went to a home at 585 Irvin Jumper Street, where Bostic, Padgett and Sheppard live, in order to investigate information that a methamphetamine laboratory was being operated at the residence, Metts said. Deputies found evidence that a methamphetamine laboratory was being operated at the home and requested assistance from NET officers to further investigate the laboratory.

NET officers executed a search warrant at the Irvin Jumper Street home, Metts said. Officers found one three-liter bottle and three additional containers at the rear of the residence that were being used as reaction vessels to manufacture methamphetamine. Officers arrested Bostic, Padgett, Quarles and Sheppard at the residence.

Officers dismantled and properly disposed of the four reaction vessels that were being used to manufacture methamphetamine, Metts said. While searching Quarles’ person incident to his arrest, officers found two coffee filters in a pocket in Quarles’ pants that contained a substance that appeared to be methamphetamine. While searching Bostic’s person incident to his arrest, officers found a small plastic bag in a pocket in Bostic’s pants that contained a substance that appeared to be methamphetamine. Bostic also possessed several pills.

Metts asked anyone with information about illegal drug activity in Lexington County to call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Citizens also can provide information anonymously by accessing the Crime Tip link on the Sheriff’s Department web site (www.lexingtonsheriff.com).
