Two Persons Arrested for Car Break-Ins and Possession of Narcotics

Lexington County Sheriff’s Deputies on Tuesday, February 18 arrested a Lexington man and woman on charges of breaking into motor vehicles on Platt Springs Road, near Red Bank, and possession of narcotics.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said Daniel Allen Lewis, 31, of 1168 Kittie Drive, Lexington, was arrested and charged with breaking into motor vehicles and possession of marijuana.

Metts also said Rachel Louise Smith, 26, also of 1168 Kittie Drive, Lexington was arrested and charged with breaking into motor vehicles and possession of methamphetamine.

An arrest warrant alleges that Lewis forced entry into a motor vehicle at located at 5333 Platt Springs Road, near Red Bank, with the intent to steal items of value from it. Deputies caught Lewis in the motor vehicle. A search revealed Lewis had stolen items belonging to the vehicle’s owner on his person as well as a bag of marijuana.

An arrest warrant alleges that Smith also forced entry into a motor vehicle located at 5333 Platt Springs Road with the intent of stealing items of value from it. Deputies caught Smith hiding in a separate vehicle after Lewis was detained. A search revealed that Smith was in possession of methamphetamine.
