Cram-A-Cruiser


In two weeks, Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies who are assigned to a road patrol shift will conduct a Cram a Cruiser food drive for Lexington Interfaith Community Services (LICS) between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Saturday, December 14 in the parking lot of a Kroger grocery store at 7467 St. Andrews Road near Irmo. The deputies work in the North Region Patrol District, which is based near Irmo.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts encourages citizens to bring non-perishable food items that will be placed inside one marked Chevrolet Tahoe patrol cruiser, which is assigned to the supervisor of the road patrol shift, and several marked Ford Crown Victoria patrol cruisers. The goal is to fill the patrol cruisers with non-perishable food items that will be donated to LICS, which provides food to persons in Lexington County who are in need of assistance.

Master Deputy Nicholas “Nick” Burt is coordinating the Cram a Cruiser food drive, Metts said. Citizens who have questions concerning the food drive can contact Burt on his cellular telephone at (803) 309-7876.

The Cram a Cruiser food drive reflects the Sheriff’s Department mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
