Officers Seize Methamphetamine Laboratory

Officers with the Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) on Tuesday, November 19 seized a methamphetamine laboratory that was being operated at a home on Meadowfield Road near Gaston. Officers also arrested three men and two women on charges that the three men and two women operated multiple reaction vessels that actively were being used to manufacture methamphetamine inside the residence.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said NET officers arrested Amanda Marie Jones, 31, of 246 Meadowfield Road, Gaston; Pamela Ann Masanovich, 44, of 1043 Meadowfield Road, Gaston; Robert Joe McDaniel, III, 29, of 246 Meadowfield Road, Gaston; Charles William Reppenhagen, 28, of 1043 Meadowfield Road, Gaston; and Albert Christopher Thompson, Jr., 44, of 1043 Meadowfield Road, Gaston. Jones, Masanovich, McDaniel, Reppenhagen and Thompson each were being held on Wednesday, November 20 at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting bond hearings.

Officers arrested Jones on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, possessing methamphetamine and possessing a controlled substance, Metts said. Officers arrested Masanovich on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, possessing methamphetamine, possessing a controlled substance and unlawfully disposing of waste from a methamphetamine laboratory. Officers arrested McDaniel on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, possessing methamphetamine and possessing a controlled substance.

Officers arrested Reppenhagen and Thompson on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, possessing methamphetamine, possessing a controlled substance and unlawfully disposing of waste from a methamphetamine laboratory, Metts said.

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies received information on Tuesday that a methamphetamine laboratory was being operated at a home at 1043 Meadowfield Road, Metts said. Deputies went to the residence at about 11:37 a.m. on Tuesday and detected a strong chemical odor emanating from the home that they recognized from training that they had received as an indication that a methamphetamine laboratory was being operated at the residence. Deputies requested assistance from NET officers in order to further investigate the matter.

NET officers searched the Meadowfield Road home and found that multiple reaction vessels actively were being used to manufacture methamphetamine, including several mason jars that were stored in a microwave oven in a bedroom, Metts said. NET officers dismantled and properly disposed of the reaction vessels that were being used to manufacture methamphetamine at the residence.

Metts asked anyone with information about illegal drug activity in Lexington County to call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Citizens also can provide information anonymously by accessing the Crime Tip link on the Sheriff’s Department web site (www.lexingtonsheriff.com).

NET is comprised of officers from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Batesburg-Leesville Police Department and Lexington Police Department, Metts said. The sheriff and municipal police chiefs implemented NET in 2001 in order to enhance drug enforcement in Lexington County.
