Officers Seize Mobile Methamphetamine Laboratory

Officers with the Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) on Thursday, October 31 seized a mobile methamphetamine laboratory that was being operated in a green Chevrolet Equinox sport-utility vehicle that was parked in the parking lot of a strip shopping center on Emanuel Church Road near West Columbia. Officers arrested one man and two women in connection with the operation of the mobile methamphetamine laboratory.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said NET officers arrested Shane Everette Culley, 24, of 223 Sycamore Tree Road, Unit 10, Lexington; Allisha Grace Harr, 18, of 306 McLee Road, Lexington; and Lauren Elizabeth Ragsdale, 21, of 4054 Springhill Road, Columbia. Officers arrested Culley on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine and possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it. Officers arrested Ragsdale on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine and possessing methamphetamine. Officers arrested Harr on a charge of manufacturing methamphetamine.

Culley, Harr and Ragsdale each were being held on Friday, November 1 at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting bond hearings, Metts said.

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies received information at about 7:56 p.m. on Thursday that Culley, Harr and Ragsdale were planning to sell methamphetamine from the Chevrolet Equinox sport-utility vehicle, Metts said. Deputies found the vehicle in the shopping center parking lot on Emanuel Church Road and found a mobile laboratory in the rear driver’s side compartment of the vehicle that actively was being used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Deputies requested assistance from NET officers to further investigate the mobile methamphetamine laboratory that deputies found in the rear compartment of the Chevrolet Equinox sport-utility vehicle, Metts said. NET officers arrested Culley, Harr and Ragsdale after determining that Culley, Harr and Ragsdale operated the mobile methamphetamine laboratory.

While searching Culley’s person incident to his arrest, officers found two used needles, two silver cylinders that contained three bags of methamphetamine, one white plastic box that contained two bags of methamphetamine and one small bag of marijuana, Metts said.

NET officers dismantled and safely disposed of the mobile methamphetamine laboratory that officers found in the Chevrolet Equinox, Metts said.

Metts asked anyone with information about illegal drug activity in Lexington County to call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Citizens also can provide information anonymously by accessing the Crime Tip link on the Sheriff’s Department web site (www.lexingtonsheriff.com).

NET is comprised of officers from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Batesburg-Leesville Police Department and Lexington Police Department, Metts said. The sheriff and municipal police chiefs implemented NET in 2001 in order to enhance drug enforcement in Lexington County.
