Sheriff Promotes Six Deputies


Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts promoted four deputies with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department to serve as detectives, promoted one deputy to serve as a resident deputy and promoted one deputy to serve as a deputy in the K-9 Unit.

Metts promoted Brian Burrell, 29, of Lexington, to serve as an undercover detective with the Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET). Burrell previously served as a field training officer on a road patrol shift in the North Region Patrol District, which is based near Irmo. On August 23, 2010, Metts appointed Burrell to serve as a deputy.

Metts promoted Tyler Couch, 25, of Lexington, to serve as a detective in the South Region Patrol District, which is based in Pelion. Couch previously served as a field training officer on a road patrol shift in the West Region Patrol District, which is based near Gilbert. On August 23, 2010, Metts appointed Couch to serve as a deputy.

Metts promoted Shannon Dykes, 35, of West Columbia, to serve as a detective in the Major Crimes Unit. Dykes previously served as the resident deputy for the Dixiana community. On July 26, 2010, Metts appointed Dykes to serve as a deputy.

Metts promoted Richard Jacob, 32, of Lexington, to serve as a detective in the North Region Patrol District. Jacob previously served as a field training officer on a road patrol shift in the North Region Patrol District. On December 15, 2008, Metts appointed Jacob to serve as a deputy.

Metts promoted Benjamin Treaster, 25, of Gaston, to serve as the resident deputy for the Boiling Springs and Fairview communities. Treaster previously served as a deputy on a road patrol shift in the North Region Patrol District. On June 1, 2010, Metts appointed Treaster to serve as a deputy.

Metts promoted Roy Hall, 29, of Lexington, to serve as a deputy in the K-9 Unit. Hall previously served as a detective, and Hall investigated property crimes that were reported in the South Region Patrol District. On December 3, 2007, Metts appointed Hall to serve as a deputy.
