More than $2,000 Donated to WE CARE Center

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies and members of the Timberlake Plantation Owners Association and Timberlake Country Club on Friday, September 13 presented a check in the amount of $2,200 to the WE CARE Center in the Chapin community. The donation reflected proceeds from the third annual Timberlake Youth Triathlon.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said a total of 70 children participated in the youth triathlon, which deputies conducted in partnership with Timberlake Plantation Owners Association and Timberlake Country Club on August 24 at the country club at 222 Timberlake Drive near Chapin.

All proceeds from the youth triathlon benefitted the WE CARE Center, which provides food and other assistance for persons who are in need of assistance in the Chapin, Little Mountain, Peak, Pomaria and Prosperity communities, Metts said. Chapin Resident Deputy Kevin Smith coordinated the participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the youth triathlon.

The Timberlake Youth Triathlon was sponsored by Timberlake Plantation Owners Association, Timberlake Country Club, Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Gallup & Gallup, Green Earth Lawn Service, Harrell & Associates, P.A., Clark’s Termite and Pest Control, Dr. Pepper/Snapple, Palmetto Health, Palmetto Graphix, REMAX Real Estate Chapin, Chapin Eye Care Center, O’Leary Orthodontics, Midlands Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Capt. Lee Marshall, The Lake Murray Specialists (Kit and Johnny Oswald), Chapin Dental Associates, RoseMarie and Gary Schmedding, Aun and McKay, State Sen. Ronnie Cromer and Bi-Lo in Chapin, Metts said.

The Timberlake Youth Triathlon reflects the Sheriff’s Department mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
