Officers Seize Methamphetamine Laboratory

Officers with the Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) on Monday, September 9 seized a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory that was being operated at a home on Ivy Link Road near Leesville. Officers arrested three men and one woman on charges that the four persons operated the methamphetamine laboratory that officers found at the residence. The three men and one woman also were charged with breaking into the residence, which is owned as a second home and was not supposed to be occupied.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said officers arrested Darwin Jason Ciesielski, 43, of 181 Benjamin Drive, Lexington; Kimberly Elaine Kinney, 30, of 4849 Highway 41 South, Marion; Charles Brandon Linton, 23, of 1364 Devils Backbone Road, Leesville; and Cody Edward Shealy, 22, of 255 Rawls Drive, Batesburg-Leesville.

Ciesielski, Kinney, Linton and Shealy each were charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and second-degree burglary, Metts said. Ciesielski, Kinney, Linton and Shealy were being held on Tuesday, September 10 at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting bond hearings.

A relative of the homeowner contacted the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department on Monday and reported that unauthorized persons were occupying the home on Ivy Link Road along the shores of Lake Murray, Metts said. Deputies went to the home at about 8:33 p.m. on Monday and found Ciesielski, Kinney, Linton and Shealy at the residence as well as waste from a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory. Deputies placed Ciesielski, Kinney, Linton and Shealy in investigative detention and requested help from NET officers to further investigate the incident.

NET officers determined that Ciesielski, Kinney, Linton and Shealy had operated a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory at the Ivy Link Road home, Metts said. Officers further determined that Ciesielski, Kinney, Linton and Shealy had broken into the residence.

Metts asked anyone with information about illegal drug activity in Lexington County to call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Citizens also can provide information anonymously by accessing the Crime Tip link on the Sheriff’s Department web site (

NET is comprised of officers from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Batesburg-Leesville Police Department and Lexington Police Department, Metts said. The sheriff and municipal police chiefs implemented NET in 2001 in order to enhance drug enforcement in Lexington County.
