Temporary Traffic Delays

In one week, motorists will experience traffic delays on roads near the Lexington County James R. Metts Law Enforcement Complex, 521 Gibson Road, Lexington, between 6:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 25 during the seventh annual Lexington County Sheriff’s Foundation Jailbreak 5-K Run.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said Gibson Road in the vicinity of the Law Enforcement Complex will be closed temporarily to traffic during the 5-K run. Motorists on other roads in the vicinity of the complex will experience temporary traffic delays during the race.

Law enforcement officers will control traffic flow in the area surrounding the Law Enforcement Complex for the duration of the road race, Metts said. Gibson Road is the only road that will be closed completely to traffic during the race. Metts encourages motorists to use alternate routes in the vicinity of the Law Enforcement Complex during the 5-K Run.

Citizens who have questions concerning traffic delays and road closures during the Jailbreak 5-K Run can contact the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230, Metts said.

All proceeds from the Jailbreak 5-K Run benefit the Sheriff’s Foundation, which is a non-profit group that pays for equipment, training and other items that the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department has difficulty acquiring through the governmental budget process.
