Property Checks on Lake Murray |
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department will conduct property checks by water for homes and businesses that are located on Lake Murray. Deputies with the agency’s Lake Murray Marine Patrol will examine lakefront properties that citizens register for property checks.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said citizens who want to register their lakefront home or business for a property check should call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230. Citizens must provide the street address for their lakefront home or business and must specify that they want the home or business to be examined by a Marine Patrol deputy.
Marine Patrol deputies will conduct property checks in order to try to provide citizens with peace of mind concerning their lakefront homes or businesses during the traditional off-season for boating and other recreational activities on Lake Murray, Metts said. Marine Patrol deputies will dock their boats at lakefront homes and businesses and inspect the homes or businesses to determine whether a residence or business has been broken into.
Citizens who observe suspicious activity at lakefront homes or businesses should report the activity to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department by calling (803) 785-8230, Metts said.
