General Information

Residential curbside garbage is available in all areas of Lexington County through franchise area service providers. To establish service, please check the Service Area Map and contact the appropriate provider directly. For clarification of your franchise area, please call Solid Waste Management at (803) 755-3325. There is no additional cost to recycle curbside, however, you must purchase a bin from your service provider or provide a container to their specifications. How to Prepare Curbside Recyclables

If you have a complaint about your service, contact your service provider directly. You also may complete the Lexington County Solid Waste Management Franchise Complaint form (below) and send it to our office via e-mail (sbrooks@lex-co.com) or fax (803-755-3833).

Curbside Requirement Waiver

Franchise Curbside Collection Program participants are required to place their roll cart at the curbside of the nearest public or private road/street/highway on the specified collection day. Participants who have a verifiable medical or physical disability that prevents them from doing so may submit a completed Medical/Physical Disability Verification Form to the Director of Solid Waste Management to request a waiver. With an approved waiver, the Franchise Service Provider will collect the roll cart containing from a designated location adjacent to the house at the curbside rate.

Franchise Service Providers

The franchise agreement between these service providers and Lexington County recognizes each New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day as holidays. No collection occurs on these holidays.

Service Area Maps/Schedule

Please see chart below for monthly curbside collection rates;  please contact your provider for specific questions. Effective each October 1, the contractor may implement a fuel surcharge based on the average cost of diesel fuel during the previous twelve-month period based on the Department of Labor, Bureau of Statistics South Region data. The fuel surcharge will be added to the base price of $14.50 per month per customer and will be listed separately on each customer billing.
