Fugitve Arrested for Having Sex with a 13 year old girl Returned to Lexington County

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department detectives in cooperation with the Fort Worth (Texas) Police Department, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Marshals Service and U.S. Secret Service arrested a 21-year-old Lexington man in Fort Worth, Texas, who was wanted by the Sheriff’s Department on arrest warrants that allege that the man sexually assaulted a girl, who is now 13, on four occasions between February 28 and April 5. The fugitive was returned to the Lexington County Detention Center on Wednesday, June 18.

Lexington County Sheriff A. Lewis McCarty said fugitive investigators with the Fort Worth Police Department and a U.S. Marshals Service regional fugitive task force arrested Luis Gerardo Montiel, 21, of 101 Topaz Court, Lot 13, Lexington, in Fort Worth, Texas on Friday, June 6, on arrest warrants that Sheriff’s Department detectives obtained for Montiel on four counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child between the ages of 11 and 14. Detectives entered Montiel as a wanted person on the National Crime Information Center computer database.

Arrest warrants allege that Montiel had sexual intercourse with the girl who now is 13 on February 28, March 14, March 28 and April 5 at a Lexington home, McCarty said. The sexual assault incidents were corroborated during a forensic interview that was conducted with the 13-year-old girl. Montiel told the 13-year-old girl not to discuss the sexual assaults with anyone because he could be arrested and jailed.

The mother of the 13-year-old girl reported the sexual assaults to the Sheriff’s Department on May 5, McCarty said.

Montiel fled to Fort Worth, where Montiel has relatives and friends, after detectives began investigating the sexual assaults that Montiel perpetrated against the 13-year-old girl, McCarty said. Montiel was acquainted with the 13-year-old girl and the girl’s mother. Montiel is currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center. Montiel was denied bond by a magistrate court judge on Wednesday, June 18.
