Community Clean-Up Effort

In two weeks, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department in partnership with Christ Central Ministries, Home Depot, Keep The Midlands Beautiful, Lexington County Animal Services, Lexington County Community Development, Lexington County Solid Waste Management, Pelion High School Future Farmers of America and the Pelion Ruritan Club will conduct a community clean-up effort between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 21 on Davenport Road, Danley Road and Josh Road near Pelion.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said deputies and other persons will remove trash along the three roads and remove debris from yards outside homes along the three roads in order to enhance the quality of life for residents in the Pelion community. Lexington County Solid Waste Management will provide containers and a large truck to remove trash and debris that deputies and other persons pick up along Davenport Road, Danley Road and Josh Road.

Deputies and other persons will meet at Power House Church of God By Faith, 1766 Josh Road, Pelion, to begin the community clean-up effort, Metts said. Members of the Pelion Ruritan Club will prepare lunch for persons who participate in the community clean-up effort.

Code Enforcement Deputy Chris Mixon is coordinating the participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the community clean-up effort, Metts said. Citizens who have questions about the event can contact Mixon on his office voice mail at (803) 785-2843 or via email at cmixon@lcsd.sc.gov.

The community clean-up effort reflects the Sheriff’s Department mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
