Community Clean-up Effort

Lexington County Sheriff’s Deputies on Saturday, May 31 will conduct a community clean-up event from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the Whitehall area of Lexington County.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said members of the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department North Region Patrol Division Community Service Bureau in coordination with volunteers from the Whitehall community will conduct the clean-up effort of approximately 28 homes in the area.

The clean-up effort will include deputies and residents working together to pick up trash, yard debris, trimming bushes, and beautifying the neighborhood. In addition to beautification, the effort also aids in crime prevention by trimming back trees and bushes close to residences in order to deter potential criminal activity, Metts said.

Metts said the following organizations are also donating manpower or other resources to the clean-up effort: Boy Scout Troops 521 and 410, Girl Scout Troop 516, the Whitehall Garden Club, Fresh Church, and the Michael J. Mungo Foundation.

The community clean-up effort reflects the Sheriff’s Department mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County.
