Cops and Calabash


Officers with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and Lexington Police Department will work as servers during the fifth annual Cops and Calabash fund raiser for South Carolina Special Olympics that will be conducted between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21 and Thursday, May 22 and between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Friday, May 23 at a Fatz restaurant, 942 East Main Street, Lexington. All proceeds will benefit Special Olympics.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts and Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green encourage citizens to participate in the fund raiser. Officers will serve customers who eat at the restaurant and will donate to Special Olympics any cash that customers leave at their tables after they finish eating their meals. Customers also will be able to leave donations for Special Olympics at their dining tables during the fund raiser.

Deputies’ participation in the Cops and Calabash fund raiser for South Carolina Special Olympics reflects the Sheriff’s Department mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
