Deputies Arrest Man for Unlawfully Entering Seven Motor Vehicles

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested a 24-year-old Lexington man on Sunday, May 4 on charges that the man unlawfully entered seven motor vehicles that were parked outside four homes on Willow Forks Road and two homes on Firbough Court near Lexington. The man stole electronic tools, Global Positioning System devices, one iPod portable media player and other items from the seven vehicles on Sunday night.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said deputies arrested Thomas Matthew Judy, 24, of 712 Leafy Bend Court, Lexington, on seven counts of breaking into a motor vehicle, seven counts of petit larceny and one count of auto tampering. Judy was being held on Monday, May 5 at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing.

Arrest warrants allege that on Sunday Judy unlawfully entered a Chevrolet Equinox sport-utility vehicle that was parked outside a home on Willow Forks Road and stole one Verizon cellular telephone charger, Rain-X windshield wipers, one Relic woman’s watch and one Kodak camera charger, Metts said.

Arrest warrants further allege that on Sunday Judy unlawfully entered a Chevrolet Uplander minivan and Chevrolet Avalanche sport-utility truck that were parked outside a second home on Willow Forks Road and stole one bag that contained screws and screwdrivers as well as one OtterBox cellular telephone protective case, one Tom Tom Global Positioning System device, one child’s stroller and compact discs, Metts said.

In addition, arrest warrants allege that on Sunday Judy unlawfully entered a Dodge Durango sport utility vehicle that was parked outside a third home on Willow Forks Road and stole one bag that contact air fresheners, one sunglass holder and one cellular telephone charger, Metts said.

Arrest warrants also allege that on Sunday Judy unlawfully entered a Dodge Ram pickup truck that was parked outside a fourth home on Willow Forks Road and stole one Black & Decker drill set and one Husqvarna weed-eater, Metts said.

In addition, arrest warrants allege that on Sunday Judy unlawfully entered a Scion vehicle that was parked outside a home on Firbough Court and stole one Garmin Nuvi Global Positioning System device and one Campbell air-compressor, Metts said.

Arrest warrants further allege that on Sunday Judy unlawfully entered a Nissan Rogue sport-utility vehicle that was parked outside a second home on Firbough Court and stole one iPod portable media player, Metts said.

Finally, an arrest warrant alleges that on Sunday Judy unlawfully entered a Ford Flex sport-utility vehicle that was parked outside a fifth home on Willow Forks Road with the intent to steal items from the vehicle, Metts said.

At about 8:56 p.m. on Sunday, a deputy who was off duty saw Judy running along Firbough Court and received information that items that had been taken from a motor vehicle that was parked outside a home on Firbough Court had been left in the home’s front yard, Metts said. The off-duty deputy detained Judy until deputies who were on duty arrived and placed Judy in investigative detention. Judy possessed an iPod portable media player that had been reported stolen from the vehicle that was parked outside the Firbough Court home.

Deputies arrested Judy in connection with the unlawful entering of seven motor vehicles, Metts said. Deputies recovered all of the items that Judy had stolen from the vehicles.

Metts asked anyone with information about additional criminal activity involving Judy to contact the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
