Deputies Arrest Two Men for Performing Illicit Sexual Acts at Boat Landing

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies on Thursday, April 17 arrested a 54-year-old Columbia man and a 42-year-old Columbia man whom deputies saw performing illicit sexual acts at a public boat landing on the Saluda River at 9 Radio Lane near Irmo.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said deputies arrested Bruce Allen Grammer, 54, of 515 Westover Road, Columbia, and Robert Curtis Jennings, Jr., 42, of 1512 Carter Street, Columbia, for violating a Lexington County ordinance that prohibits persons from performing indecent sexual acts in public. Grammer and Jennings were released from the Lexington County Detention Center on Friday, April 18 on a personal recognizance bond of $1,092 for each person.

Deputies arrested Grammer and Jennings during an undercover investigation that deputies conducted in response to citizens’ complaints about illicit activity at the boat landing, Metts said.

On Thursday, Grammer asked a deputy, who was working undercover, to step into woods off a trail, Metts said. Grammer offered to perform a sexual act on the deputy, who arrested Grammer.

Jennings approached a deputy, who was working undercover, at the end of a trail near the Saluda River, Metts said. Jennings offered to perform a sexual act on the deputy, who arrested Jennings.
