Deputies Arrest Two Men for Performing Illicit Sexual Acts at Boat Landing

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies on Monday, December 30 arrested a 38-year-old Lexington man and a 45-year-old St. Matthews man whom deputies saw performing illicit sexual acts at a public boat landing on the Saluda River at 9 Radio Lane near Irmo.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said deputies arrested Stephen Lee Grissom, 38, of 324 Robert Davis Road, Lexington, and Edward A. Rose, 45, of 3003 Bridge Street, St. Matthews, for violating a Lexington County ordinance that prohibits persons from performing indecent sexual acts in public. Grissom and Rose were being held on Tuesday, December 31 at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting bond hearings.

Deputies arrested Grissom and Rose during an undercover investigation that deputies conducted in response to complaints from citizens concerning persons performing illicit sexual acts at the public boat landing, Metts said.

At about 9:34 a.m. on Monday, a deputy, who was working undercover, saw Grissom and Rose walk together on a path at the boat landing, Metts said. The deputy saw Grissom expose his private part and then saw Rose perform a sexual act on Grissom. The deputy used his police radio to contact uniformed patrol deputies, who arrested Grissom and Rose.
