Correctional Officers Donate 600 Gifts and Nearly $4,000 in Checks, Cash and Gift Cards

Lexington County Detention Center correctional officers in partnership with Carolina Springs Middle School, Farm Service Agency in Aiken, Radius Church, Round Hill Baptist Church and World Finance donated 600 gifts as well as checks, cash and gift cards worth a combined total of about $3,900 to children at the Nancy K. Perry Children’s Shelter in Lexington, children who are in foster care and children in need of assistance who attend Red Bank Elementary School and Saxe Gotha Elementary School.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said Lt. Jeremy Vetter, who is a foster parent and Housing Division supervisor at the Detention Center, coordinated the effort to provide gifts, checks, cash and gift cards to children in Lexington County who are in need of assistance. Correctional officers conducted the holiday gift drive as a community service project.

The donation of gifts, checks, cash and gift cards to children in Lexington County who are in need of assistance reflects the Sheriff’s Department mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
