Deputies Remove About 1,500 Bottles from Woods

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department resident deputies and code enforcement officers on Tuesday, December 17 removed about 1,500 glass bottles and plastic bottles that had been dumped in woods in the 100 block of Pooles Valley Road near Swansea.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said Horseneck/Swansea Resident Deputy Robert Snuffer coordinated the clean-up effort in response to citizens’ concerns about the large number of glass bottles and plastic bottles that had been dumped in the woods. Snuffer, Code Enforcement Officer Chris Mixon, Code Enforcement John Hatchell, Gaston Resident Deputy Shannon Lovell, Pelion Resident Deputy Melissa Kelly and two citizens spent about 90 minutes removing bottles from the woods.

“Two citizens contacted Robert about the large number of bottles that had been dumped in the woods off Pooles Valley Road, and Robert quickly assembled a team of deputies to address the situation,” Metts said. “Robert and his fellow deputies demonstrated their strong commitment to fulfilling our agency’s mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County.”
