Officers Seize Methamphetamine Laboratory

Officers with the Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) on Wednesday, June 5 seized a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory that was being operated at a home on Fish Hatchery Road near Gaston. Officers also arrested four men and four women on charges that they operated the methamphetamine laboratory that officers found at the home.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said officers arrested Christina Annette Bryant, 23, of 410 Hartley Quarter Road, Pelion; Christopher Charles Buffkin, 35, of 144 Addie Lucas Road, Lexington; Matthew David Dolak, 33, of 222 Walnut Creek Circle, Lexington; Pamela Ann Masanovich, 44, of 1043 Meadowfield Road, Gaston; Ashley Eleana Peele, 24, of 366 Peele Court, Swansea; David Dan Tinman, 54, of 4157 Fish Hatchery Road, Gaston; Allen Douglas Wahl, 44, of 366 Peele Court, Swansea; and Theresa Dianne Wilson, 34, of 753 Meadowfield Road, Gaston. The four men and four women were arrested on a charge of manufacturing methamphetamine. Bryant, Buffkin, Dolak, Masanovich, Peele, Tinman, Wahl and Wilson were being held on Wednesday at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting bond hearings.

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies received information at about 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4 that a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory was being operated at the home at 4157 Fish Hatchery Road, where Tinman lives, Metts said. Deputies went to the home at about 12:55 a.m. on Wednesday and detected a strong chemical odor emanating from the residence that they recognized from training that they had received as an indication that a methamphetamine laboratory was being operated at the home.

After they entered the home, deputies encountered a thick white cloud that was produced from two reaction vessels that actively were being used to manufacture methamphetamine at the residence, Metts said. Deputies found one green plastic bottle in a room at the front of the home that contained a white substance and had a cap attached to it with a rubber tube. Deputies later found a second plastic bottle on the floor in the master bedroom that contained a white substance.

Deputies requested assistance from NET in further investigating the clandestine methamphetamine laboratory at the Fish Hatchery Road home, Metts said. NET officers arrived at the home and later determined that Bryant, Buffkin, Dolak, Masanovich, Peele, Tinman, Wahl and Wilson all were manufacturing methamphetamine at the residence. Deputies detained the four men and four women at the home and later arrested the four men and four women.

Metts asked anyone with information about illegal drug activity in Lexington County to call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Citizens also can provide information anonymously by accessing the Crime Tip link on the Sheriff’s Department web site (www.lexingtonsheriff.com).

NET is comprised of officers from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Batesburg-Leesville Police Department and Lexington Police Department, Metts said. The sheriff and municipal police chiefs implemented NET in 2001 in order to enhance drug enforcement in Lexington County.
