Man Arrested for Child Abuse

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department detectives on Thursday, May 2 arrested a 22-year-old Chapin man in connection with the abuse of 4-month-old child.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said detectives arrested Tyler Sean-Michael Lambert, 22, of Chapin. An arrest warrant alleges that on or about March 17, 2013 Lambert assaulted a 4-month-old infant. If convicted, Lambert could face a maximum of 20 years in prison. Lambert is currently incarcerated at the Lexington County Detention Center where he is scheduled for a bond hearing at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 3.

An arrest warrant alleges that on March 26, the child was taken to Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital for treatment. It was determined that the infant had signs of a pattern of physical abuse inflicted upon them over a period of time which caused serious and life-threatening injuries, Metts said.

An arrest warrant further alleges that a doctor specifically trained in child abuse determined the injuries on the child were the result of non-accidental blunt force trauma. The investigation revealed that Lambert is the person primarily responsible for the child’s injuries, Metts said.

Metts asked for citizens to contact investigators if they had any further information of criminal activity involving Lambert. Citizens may contact investigators at (803)785-8230 or they can submit tips anonymously through CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CrimeSC.
