Deputies Participate in Player Assisted League

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies will participate on Saturday, March 23 and Saturday, March 30 in the Player Assisted League, which enables persons with physical and mental disabilities to play baseball on a specially designed baseball field at the Pineview Dixie Youth Baseball Complex at 1250 Methodist Park Road near West Columbia.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said deputies who are assigned to the North Region Patrol District, which is based near Irmo, will help persons with disabilities play baseball at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 23 at the Methodist Park Road baseball complex. Detectives who are assigned to the Major Crimes Unit will help persons with disabilities play baseball at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 30 at the Methodist Park Road baseball complex.

The Player Assisted League is open to persons ages 3 and older, Metts said.

“The deputies and detectives are looking forward to helping persons with physical and mental disabilities play ball and have fun,” Metts said.

The participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the Player Assisted League reflects the agency’s mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
