Detectives Arrest Man Caught in Act of Breaking Into Home |
Lexington County Sheriff’s Department detectives on Wednesday, September 19 arrested a 22-year-old Gaston man on an arrest warrant that alleges that the man broke into a home on Hillsborough Street near Irmo on Wednesday. The homeowner saw the man exiting her home when she returned home in her motor vehicle on Wednesday morning.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said detectives arrested Tyree Laquon Lucas, 22, of 2021 Sandy Run Drive, Gaston, on Wednesday on an arrest warrant on a charge of second-degree burglary. Lucas was being held on Friday, September 21 at the Lexington County Detention Center on a $15,000 bond.
An arrest warrant alleges that between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Wednesday Lucas broke into the home on Hillsborough Street with the intent to steal items from the home, Metts said. The homeowner interrupted the burglary when she returned home, preventing Lucas from stealing any items from the residence.
The arrest warrant further alleges that the homeowner saw Lucas exit her home and drive away in a black Nissan Xterra sport-utility vehicle, Metts said. The homeowner provided detectives with the South Carolina license plate number for the Nissan Xterra, which is registered to Lucas’ stepfather. Detectives later identified Lucas as the man who committed the burglary and arrested Lucas.
Metts asked anyone with information concerning the burglary at the Hillsborough Street home or additional criminal activity involving Lucas to call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Citizens also can provide information anonymously by accessing the Crime Tip link on the Sheriff’s Department web site (www.lexingtonsheriff.com).
