Deputies Arrest Man for Breaking Into Pawn Shop

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies on Wednesday, September 19 arrested a 27-year-old Lexington man on an arrest warrant that alleges that the man broke into a pawn and gun shop on Sunset Boulevard near Lexington on Tuesday, September 18. The man stole three handguns from the business.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said deputies arrested Christopher Lee Williams, 27, at about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Williams’ home at 124 Double Eagle Circle, Lexington, on an arrest warrant on a charge of second-degree burglary. Williams was being held on Thursday, September 20 at the Lexington County Detention Center on a $15,000 bond.

An arrest warrant alleges that at about 1 a.m. on Tuesday Williams broke into Lexington Pawn and Gun, 4886 Sunset Boulevard, Lexington, by forcing his way through the front window at the business, Metts said. Williams used a hammer to shatter the glass on top of a display case and stole one .45-caliber Heritage revolver, one .45-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver and one .357-caliber Ruger Blackhawk handgun. Detectives later recovered all three handguns.

Metts asked anyone with information concerning additional criminal activity involving Williams to call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Citizens also can provide information anonymously by accessing the Crime Tip link on the Sheriff’s Department web site (www.lexingtonsheriff.com).
