Man Arrested for Breaking Into Two Motor Vehicles |
Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested a 17-year-old Lexington man on Wednesday, September 5 on charges that the man broke into two motor vehicles that were parked outside two homes on Point South Lane near Lexington. The man also lives on Point South Lane.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said deputies arrested Tyler Scott Fleming, 17, of 106 Point South Lane, Lexington, at about 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday after officers responded to motor vehicle break-ins that were reported at about 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4. Deputies later obtained arrest warrants for Fleming on two counts of breaking into a motor vehicle. Fleming was released from the Lexington County Detention Center on Wednesday after Fleming posted bail totaling $5,000.
An arrest warrant alleges that at about 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday Fleming illegally entered an unlocked 2011 Ford Fusion sedan that was parked outside a home on Point South Lane and stole one Motorola Tracfone cellular telephone, Metts said. In addition, an arrest warrant alleges that Fleming illegally entered an unlocked 1996 Dodge Intrepid sedan that was parked outside a second home on Point South Lane and stole a face plate from the car’s stereo system.
Deputies with the Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit tracked the movements of the man whom witnesses saw illegally enter motor vehicles on Point South Lane and encountered Fleming outside a home on Snow Lane, Metts said. Deputies determined that Fleming matched the description of the man whom witnesses saw illegally enter motor vehicles on Point South Lane. Officers arrested Fleming in connection with the motor vehicle break-ins.
Deputies found a Motorola Tracfone on Fleming’s person incident to Fleming’s arrest as well as a magazine for a .40-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun, Metts said.
Metts said that the case remains under investigation. The sheriff said that deputies might file additional criminal charges in connection with the investigation.
Metts asked anyone with information about additional criminal activity involving Fleming to call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
