Employees of the Quarter

Thomas Hamilton Bradley White

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts on Wednesday, February 6 will recognize a field training officer and investigator as the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department Employees of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of 2007.

Metts will recognize Investigator Thomas Hamilton, 38, of Gilbert, and Field Training Officer William Bradley “Brad” White, Jr., 30, of West Columbia as the Employees of the Quarter at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6 during a Sheriff’s Department Awards Ceremony that will be conducted at Lexington County Council chambers on the second floor of the county Administration Building, 212 South Lake Drive, Lexington.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Advisory Council selected Hamilton and White as the Employees of the Quarter, Metts said. Hamilton and White also will receive the Sheriff’s Department Life Saving Award.

On December 7, 2007 White responded to a home on Eargle Drive near West Columbia in order to secure the scene for Lexington County Emergency Medical Services personnel who were heading to the home, Metts said. White found a young woman at the home was unconscious and suffering from a seizure.

White saw that the woman was not breathing and immediately began performing rescue breathing on the woman, Metts said. Hamilton arrived on scene and assisted White.

Hamilton and White took turns performing rescue breathing on the woman until EMS personnel arrived on scene, Metts said. The woman began breathing on her own and regained consciousness before she was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

“The heroic actions of Hamilton and White saved the woman’s life,” Metts said. “Their actions reflected our commitment to protect and serve the citizens of Lexington County.”

Hamilton works as an investigator in special operations, while White is assigned to road patrol duty in the North Region patrol district, which is based near Irmo, Metts said.
