Sheriff Promotes Deputies


Lexington County Sheriff A. Lewis McCarty recently promoted one deputy to captain over the Major Crimes and Narcotics units, one deputy to master deputy, two deputies to narcotics investigators, and one deputy to master corrections officer. In addition, McCarty also approved two deputies for transfer to the warrant division, one deputy for transfer to school resource officer, and one deputy to transfer to fugitive investigator.



McCarty promoted William “Bill” Galardi, 62, of Lexington to serve as a captain over Major Crimes and Narcotics divisions. Galardi previously served as a sergeant in the Professional Standards division. Galardi was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in August of 2006.



McCarty promoted John Mishoe, 24, of Swansea to serve as a road patrol master deputy in the South Region Patrol district, which is based near Pelion. Mishoe previously served as a road patrol deputy in the South Region Patrol district. Mishoe was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in August of 2011.



McCarty promoted Scott Purdy, 38, of Lexington to serve as an investigator in the narcotics division. Purdy previously served as a deputy in the North Region Patrol district, which is based near Irmo. Purdy was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in May of 2012.

McCarty promoted Jonathan Grooms, 39, of Columbia to serve as an investigator in the narcotics division. Grooms previously served as a school resource officer at Batesburg-Leesville High School. Grooms was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in April of 2007.



McCarty promoted Scott McDermott, 47, of Pelion to serve as a master corrections officer in the Lexington County Detention Center. McDermott previously served as a corrections officer in the Lexington County Detention Center. McDermott was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in December of 1998.



McCarty approved Brandon Miller, 29, of Lexington to transfer to serve as an investigator on the Fugitive Task Force. Miller previously served as a deputy in the Warrant Division. Miller was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in November of 2011.



McCarty approved David Schnibben, 28, of Columbia to transfer to serve as a deputy in the Warrant Division. Schnibben previously served as a road patrol deputy in the North Region Patrol district, which is based near Irmo. Schnibben was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in April of 2013.



McCarty approved Carl “Trey” Wilson, 28, of Lexington to transfer to serve as a deputy in the Warrant Division. Schnibben previously served as a road patrol deputy in the North Region Patrol district, which is based near Irmo. Wilson was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in November of 2013.



McCarty approved Travis Bass, 40, of Lexington to transfer to serve as a school resource officer at Nursery Road Elementary School. Bass previously served as an investigator in the Narcotics division. Bass was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in April of 2006.
