Deputies Arrest Two Women and One Man for Breaking Into Home at Gunpoint


Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested two Columbia women and one Columbia man on charges that they broke into a home at about 11:37 p.m. on Thursday, July 17 on Bush River Road near Irmo while armed with a 9-mm handgun that had been reported stolen to the Columbia Police Department.

Lexington County Sheriff A. Lewis McCarty said deputies arrested Lenore Sharlene Jennings, 43, of 240 Jamil Road, Apartment 5, Columbia; Terrell Lamont Miller, 25, of 240 Jamil Road, Apartment 5, Columbia; and Martha Nicole Pringle, 20, of 525 Alcott Drive, Columbia. Jennings, Miller and Pringle all were being held on Friday, July 18 at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting bond hearings.

Deputies arrested Jennings on arrest warrants on charges of first-degree burglary, unlawfully possessing a firearm that had been reported stolen, unlawful possession of a firearm by a person who was convicted of a violent crime that is a felony and unlawfully carrying a firearm, McCarty said. Deputies arrested Miller and Pringle on arrest warrants on a charge of first-degree burglary.

Deputies also detained two 15-year-old girls and one 15-year-old boy in connection with the armed break-in at the Bush River Road home, McCarty said. The two 15-year-old girls and 15-year-old boy were being detained on Friday at a pre-trial detention facility that the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice operates off Broad River Road in Columbia.

Deputies will recommend that the 11th Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office prosecute the two 15-year-old girls and 15-year-old boy in family court in Lexington County on a charge of first-degree burglary, McCarty said. Under South Carolina law, McCarty cannot release information that could identify the two 15-year-old girls and 15-year-old boy because the three teen-agers are children.

Arrest warrants allege that at about 11:37 p.m. on Thursday, Jennings, Miller, Pringle, the two 15-year-old girls and 15-year-old boy unlawfully entered a home at 5361 Bush River Road without the consent of the homeowners while Jennings was armed with a black 9-mm Ruger handgun that had been reported stolen to the Columbia Police Department, McCarty said. Jennings threatened to harm the homeowners and their children with the handgun.

Arrest warrants further allege that deputies found Jennings, Miller, Pringle, the two 15-year-old girls and 15-year-old boy one block away from the Bush River Road home at a convenience store, McCarty said. Deputies arrested Jennings, Miller and Pringle and detained the two 15-year-old girls and 15-year-old boy.

Jennings, Miller, Pringle, the two 15-year-old girls and 15-year-old boy broke into the Bush River Road home following a dispute earlier in the day on Thursday between a teen-age girl who lives at the home and another teen-age girl who does not live at the home, McCarty said. The dispute concerned the two girls’ involvement with a teen-age boy.
