Inspection Results in Arrests of Two Men for Selling Counterfeit Items

In response to the continuing sale of counterfeit items by vendors at a flea market near West Columbia, Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies in cooperation with the South Carolina Secretary of State’s Office conducted an inspection on Wednesday, July 2 of vendor booths at the U.S. #1 Metro Flea Market on Augusta Road that resulted in the arrests of a 19-year-old Irmo man and 38-year-old Irmo man on charges that the two men sold counterfeit items worth a combined total of $5,800 from a booth that they operated at the flea market.

Lexington County Sheriff A. Lewis McCarty said deputies will regularly inspect vendor booths at the U.S. #1 Metro Flea Market as long as counterfeit items continue to be sold by vendors at booths that they operate at the flea market.

On Wednesday, deputies arrested Sha Kim Lahmel Graham, 19, and Nigel Ali Moore, 38, both of 609 Sweet Thorne Road, Irmo, on arrest warrants on a charge of selling counterfeit items that were worth between $2,000 and $10,000, McCarty said. Graham and Moore were being held on Thursday, July 3 at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting bond hearings.

An arrest warrant alleges that at about 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday deputies conducted an inspection of vendor booths at the flea market and found that Graham and Moore were selling counterfeit items worth a combined total of $5,800 at a booth that the two men operated at the flea market, McCarty said.

The counterfeit items that Graham and Moore sold from their booth at the flea market included 20 National Football League and National Basketball Association team hats, 22 Nike Air Jordan athletic shoes, 24 AF1 athletic shoes, one Gucci belt and 115 compact disc recordings of commercially produced movies, McCarty said. Deputies seized all of the counterfeit items.
