Sheriff Promotes Two Corrections Officers


Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts promoted two corrections officers at the Lexington County Detention Center.

Metts promoted Kathi Seboe, 36, of Lexington, to serve as a field training officer for a shift of corrections officers who supervise inmates at the Detention Center. Seboe previously worked as a corrections officer on a shift at the Detention Center. On November 26, 2012, Metts appointed Seboe to serve as a corrections officer at the Detention Center.

In March, the American Correctional Association awarded Seboe certification as a Certified Corrections Officer, Metts said. Seboe received the certification based on her experience and accomplishments in the corrections field and her successful completion of a comprehensive examination that tested her knowledge as a corrections officer. The Certified Corrections Officer certification shows that a corrections officer has demonstrated an ability to communicate with and supervise corrections officers and inmates, maintain a safe and sanitary environment at a detention facility and maintain control over hazardous equipment at a detention facility.

Metts promoted John Gietz, 34, of Lexington, to serve as a law enforcement corrections officer. Gietz previously served as a corrections officer who worked on a shift supervising inmates at the Detention Center. On February 19, 2013, Metts appointed Gietz to serve as a corrections officer.
