Detectives Arrest Nurse for Inducing 16-Year-Old Boy to Engage in Sexual Performance at Medical Facility

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department detectives in cooperation with the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 28-year-old licensed practical nurse on charges that the male nurse, who lives in Lugoff, induced a 16-year-old boy to engage in a sexual performance while the nurse was treating the 16-year-old boy as a patient at a medical facility near West Columbia.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said detectives contacted the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office and requested assistance in arresting Kerston Kyle Turner, 28, of 113 Linde Lane, Lugoff, on arrest warrants that detectives obtained for Turner on charges of engaging a child under the age of 18 in a sexual performance and first-degree assault and battery.

Kershaw County deputies arrested Turner on Friday, January 17 at Turner’s home, Metts said. Lexington County detectives on Friday transported Turner to the Lexington County Detention Center, where Turner was booked at 10:55 p.m. on Friday. Turner was released from the county Detention Center on Saturday, January 18 after Turner posted bail totaling $10,000.

Arrest warrants allege that on January 14 Turner unlawfully induced the 16-year-old boy, whom Turner was treating as a patient at the medical facility, to engage in a sexual performance, Metts said. Turner offered to conduct a secretive medical screening test on the 16-year-old boy in a restroom as a ploy to engage the boy in the sexual performance, which Turner observed while Turner was in the restroom with the boy. The medical screening test, which was not medically necessary, was not documented in the 16-year-old boy’s medical file at the medical facility.

Metts said he cannot release the name and address of the medical facility because that information could be used to identify the 16-year-old boy, who is a child and the victim of a sexual offense. South Carolina law prohibits law enforcement agencies from releasing information that could be used to identify children who are the victims of sexual offenses.

The Sheriff’s Department began investigating the case on January 14 after the mother of the 16-year-old boy took her son to a hospital for examination after her son told her about the incident at the medical facility near West Columbia, Metts said.

Metts asked anyone with information about additional criminal activity involving Turner or information about additional cases in which Turner interacted inappropriately with children to call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
