Georgia Man Returned to Lexington County on Stalking Charge

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department fugitive investigators on Thursday, December 12 returned a 41-year-old Georgia man to Lexington County, where investigators served the man with an arrest warrant on a charge of stalking.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said Donald Kenneth Adams, Jr., 41, of 17 Lenox Avenue, Cartersville, Ga., is accused of sending a total of 30 emails and cellular telephone text messages to his former girlfriend at her home near Lexington over a four-day period in October. In the emails and text messages, Adams threatened to physically harm the woman and her current boyfriend.

Fugitive investigators transported Adams from the Bartow County Jail in Cartersville, Ga., to the Lexington County Detention Center, where Adams was booked at 5:32 p.m. on Thursday, Metts said. Adams was being held on Friday, December 13 at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing.

An arrest warrant alleges that Adams sent his former girlfriend, a 31-year-old Lexington woman, a total of 30 emails and cellular telephone text messages from October 10 through October 14 after the former girlfriend told Adams to stop contacting her, Metts said. The warrant further alleges that the emails and text messages that Adams sent served no legitimate purpose and caused the former girlfriend to fear for her life because of threats that Adams made in the emails and text messages to physically harm the former girlfriend and her current boyfriend.

Adams and his former girlfriend maintained a long-distance, romantic relationship for about two years after Adams moved from South Carolina to Georgia, Metts said. The former girlfriend ended her relationship with Adams on October 2 because she found it difficult to maintain a long-distance, romantic relationship.

Adams began communicating threats to his former girlfriend after he saw on her Facebook page that she was romantically involved with another man, Metts said. Adams also told his former girlfriend in his communications to her that he wanted her to provide him with her medical records, which she did not do.
