Deputies Arrest Man for Stealing Irrigation Pipes

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies on Wednesday, December 4 arrested a 45-year-old Gaston man on charges that the man stole large aluminum irrigation pipes worth about $2,400 from a farm on Old Charleston Road near Pelion.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said deputies arrested William David Boone, 45, of 156 Woodrow Boone Lane, Gaston, on a charge of petit larceny. Boone was being held on Thursday, December 5 at the Lexington County Detention Center on a $2,130 bond.

Boone is accused of stealing the irrigation pipes and loading the pipes on a utility trailer that was attached to a green 1997 GMC Sonoma pickup truck that Boone drove, Metts said. A 75-year-old Gilbert man who owns the Old Charleston Road farm reported the theft of the irrigation pipes to the Sheriff’s Department and told deputies that muddy tire tracks that were left by the pickup truck and utility trailer as Boone drove away from the farm led to Bushberry Road.

Deputies found the GMC Sonoma pickup truck and utility trailer, which was loaded with aluminum irrigation pipes, in the 300 block of Bushberry Road, Metts said. Deputies arrested Boone on charges that Boone stole the irrigation pipes from the Old Charleston Road farm.

Metts asked anyone with information about additional criminal activity involving Boone to contact the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Citizens also can provide information anonymously by accessing the Crime Tip link on the Sheriff’s Department web site (www.lexingtonsheriff.com).
