Back to School Bash

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies will work in partnership with Inner Courts Church to conduct the second annual Back to School Bash for children between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 3 at the church at 25 Bluebird Trail near Irmo.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts encourages parents and legal guardians to bring their children to the Back to School Bash. The event will include static displays of a robot and bomb truck that hazardous device technicians with the Sheriff’s Department utilize, a Lake Murray Marine Patrol boat and a truck that is utilized by the Crime Scene Investigation Unit. Information also will be made available by the Crime Prevention Unit and Gang Unit.

Irmo Resident Deputy Dan Rusinyak will coordinate the participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the Back to School Bash, Metts said. Citizens who have questions concerning the event can contact Rusinyak on his cellular telephone at (803) 518-7795.

The Back to School Bash will include a fashion show, live music and opportunities for children to have their faces painted, Metts said. Parents or legal guardians are asked to accompany children who attend the event.

The participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the Back to School Bash at Inner Courts Church reflects the agency’s mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
