Lexington Medical Center is staffed by the finest healthcare professionals and offers patients state-of-the-art facilities.  The hospital is currently undergoing the largest expansion by any medical facility in South Carolina, which will increase the main facility to more than 850,000 square feet.  Major components of the expansion will include new and expanded operating rooms, new preoperative and recovery areas, as well as expanded clinical and staff support space.

Lexington Medical Center provides the best technology in the diagnosis and treatment for several areas. Lexington Medical Centers was the first hospital in South Carolina to provide IMRT, the most advanced radiation therapy available for the treatment of cancer.  Other technologies include two MRI units, one of which is an Open MRI, Position Emission Topography or PET, and the states most modern diagnostic heart cath lab.

In its efforts to provide continuity of care for women, Lexington Medical Center provides an array of womens educational programs on topics such as menopause and breast cancer.  Lexington Medical Center also offers 5 Days Detection to Diagnosis. The goal of this innovative program is to allow women who have discovered a lump in their breast to be seen by a physician, have medical tests completed and a diagnosis rendered with a recommendation for treatment within a five-day window.

Lexington Medical Center was the first area hospital to provide midwives and Doulas (women who help educate new parents about caring for a new baby).  Lexington Medical Center was also the first to implement the Kangaroo Care program that helps mothers bond with their premature babies.

Lexington Medical Centers Health Reach program provides a variety of health assessments and screenings.  Participants are tested for cholesterol, lipid profiles, and glucose levels.  Iron levels are also checked; this can target a condition known as hemochromatosis, a common, inherited and potentially fatal disease.

Through technological capabilities, a countywide network of community medical centers and a committed staff, Lexington Medical Center will continue to meet the health care needs of our community well into the future.
