How to Apply for Jobs Listed

All applications* for employment are received at the Lexington Employment Security Commission Workforce Center only. (Applications and resumes are not accepted through the County Personnel Office.) You may print the County’s employment application and mail or fax it to their Lexington address shown below. At this time, Job Service does not receive electronically transmitted applications. All applications must be received at Job Service by the posted deadline specified in the job listing for the vacancy. All law enforcement positions, with the exception of the School Crossing Guards, must complete a Lexington County Sheriff’s Department application which can be accessed through the Sheriff’s web site LCSD application*. Special conditions and procedures for law enforcement positions are explained in the Sheriff’s web site.

Application Procedure

Your completed application* will be forwarded by Lexington Employment Security Commission Workforce Center to the Lexington County Personnel Office and distributed to the appropriate supervisor. A resume may be included with your application but may not be used as a substitute for a completed application or specific information requested about employment or education history. Personal references are required You can use one application to apply for more than one vacancy. Applications remain on file through the last day of the calendar year.


Testing

For specific positions, the County may require a proficiency test. In most cases, these tests are required for clerical positions to evaluate typing, spelling and computer orientation skills. You will be notified if you are required to complete a test.


Interview and Hiring Process

Applicants will be contacted directly by the supervisor interviewing for the vacant position. An applicant who has been offered employment will be required to authorize Lexington County to investigate criminal history and submit to a pre-employment drug test. Driving records are reviewed for all positions that may operate a County vehicle.
