| General Information |
There are three volunteer Boards that perform essential duties related to the
Department's activities. The members are appointed to these positions of service by County
Council.

| Board of Zoning Appeals |
There are nine members of the Board of Zoning Appeals, each representing
a Council District. They hear appeals and requests for variances from the
Zoning Ordinance. The Board meets on the 2nd floor of the County
Administration Building at 7:00 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month. The
deadline for items to be submitted for the Board’s consideration is no later
than Noon (12:00 p.m.) on the second (2nd) Friday of the month
preceding the month of the meeting. (Example: The deadline for the July meeting
would be no later than noon on the second (2nd) Friday in June.)

| Building Codes Board of Adjustment |
There are nine members of the Building Codes Board
of Adjustment, each representing a specific area of technical expertise
related to the building industry. They hear appeals and requests for variances
from the provisions of the Building Codes Ordinance. The Board meets only when
there are requests or appeals filed and the meetings are scheduled as quickly
as possible for the convenience of the applicant(s).

| Community Development Block Grant Advisory Committee |
The Lexington County CDBG Advisory Committee provides input to and maximizes the effectiveness of the CDBG program. The members of the Committee act in an advisory role to the CDBG staff. All members shall reside in Lexington County or represent organizations or businesses serving residents of Lexington County. Among the responsibilities of the CDBG Advisory Committee are to provide feedback to CDBG staff on annual CDBG grant project applications. The Committee also assists in reviewing applications for the Minor Home Repair program and provides advice to staff in reviewing written appeals.
